Faith Musonda Arrested for Espionage and Criminal Trespass: What Really Happened in New Kasama

By BalanceHub4 | July 10, 2025

In the early hours of July 2, 2025, Zambia awoke to a growing political and legal drama — one that now involves high-profile figure Faith Musonda, who has officially been charged with espionage and criminal trespass.

Musonda, 41, a resident of Chalala in Lusaka, is now at the center of a storm involving two serious offenses:

Criminal Trespass under Section 306 of Cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia

Espionage under Section 3(a) of the State Security Act, Chapter 111

What Really Happened That Night?

According to Police Assistant Public Relations Officer Chipo Kaitisha, the incident occurred between 00:30 and 01:00 hours on July 2, when Ms. Musonda allegedly drove a Toyota Fortuner (Reg: BBA 8874) toward Community House, located in Lusaka’s New Kasama area — the official residence of the Head of State.

Preliminary police investigations indicate that Ms. Musonda was attempting to gain unauthorized entry into the premises when she was intercepted by alert officers stationed at the gate. Without lawful clearance or authority, she was apprehended on the spot and later detained at Woodlands Police Station.

She has since been formally charged and remains in custody as she awaits court proceedings.

Espionage in Zambia: A Rare but Grave Charge

While criminal trespass is not uncommon, an espionage charge is extremely rare — and very serious. Under Zambian law, espionage pertains to any action that seeks to gather, communicate, or deliver sensitive information to unauthorized parties, especially when national security could be compromised.

The nature of Musonda's alleged actions — especially the timing and location — have raised national concern, with many questioning the motive, target, and potential political ramifications.

A Familiar Name in the Spotlight

Faith Musonda is no stranger to controversy. Known publicly for past legal entanglements involving money laundering and unexplained wealth, her name once again returns to headlines — this time, under even more alarming circumstances.

This incident is likely to stir intense political debate, particularly as the nation continues to grapple with issues of transparency, state security, and accountability.

What Happens Next?

Police have confirmed that Musonda will appear in court soon, though no date has been officially released. The nation now watches closely as this case unfolds — with questions mounting over intent, security, and what this means for the broader landscape of political and legal integrity in Zambia.

At BalanceHub4, we remain committed to reporting the facts — not the noise. As more information comes to light, we will continue to provide you with clear, grounded coverage on this developing story.
